A Note on the Role of Intelligence
In light of Part I, which focused on the construct of our intelligence apparatus and the ill-effects of the Compartmentalized Security Clearance process, I want to emphasize my strong support for the role of the CIA and FBI in America. While some, such as President John F. Kennedy, desired to eliminate the CIA, intelligence organizations are regenerative and self-sustaining. Seeking to eliminate the service is a fool’s errand. Instead, as the nation’s best and brightest, each devoted to the cause of America; the role of the intelligence community, in my humble opinion, ought to be to create a more perfect Union, and to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, as is described in the Preamble of our Constitution. As guardians of democracy, our intelligence community has explicitly chosen to confront their fear of death by committing to a cause greater than themselves. To that end, they, the members of our intelligence community, can be trusted as the discerning eye to review classified operations, ensuring compliance within Constitutional bounds, a necessary precaution to preserving Liberty, and a process which can replace the compartmentalized security system that may be used to undermine liberty in America.
